• We're Achatz handmade Pie Company

    Co-founder Wendy Achatz has built her recipes and reputation on pure, healthy, local and sustainable products. We use nonGMO ingredients with official certification roll out in 2018. We look forward to building great pies and a great relationship with you.

    Achatz Handmade Pie Company is committed to using only pure and natural ingredients. We never use chemicals, preservatives or hydrogenated oils; and much of our fruit, flours and dairy are purchased from local, Michigan farms. Learn more about our integrity of ingredients here.

    In 1993, my husband Dave and I began making pies in our home for extra income. We never imagined our business would have grown so much in 20 years. We never thought about it, didn’t have a business plan, or too much equipment, or even a building. We were doing what we loved, baking.

    Today, however, our pies remain all natural and delicious, but produced in a GFSI certified facility with over 100 dedicated employees.

    Our pies have received national recognition on Food Network, Rachel Ray, Good Morning America, Food and Wine and Bon Appétit Magazines as well as voted Michigan Best Small Business, The Macomb Hall of Fame, National PIe Championships American Pie Council and multiple community accolades proclaiming we are one of America’s top pie! And just recently were voted for the sixth year in a row, Detroit's favorite pie by Click on Detroit, 4thebest.
